Yesterday, we were planning a family trip to a New Year’s Eve party. The journey is 100 km. This time we planned to go in my brother’s car which has not got a big boot. We needed to consider the car boot space. Generally it varies for different car types such as sedan, hatch-back, coupe etc. Also our kids wanted to bring all their toys. Usually many small cars are spacious enough to carry a family of four to five. My mother warned us that we would be a long time in the car and we would need more space. How to make a spacious car boot for our luggage is challenging.
My wife, having a good eye for space decided to pack the car. She tried to pack all the luggage inside the car but did not succeed. My wife suggested that collapsible car boot organisers might be the answer. She also added that since it was a one off trip could we use the spare tyre space. My brother’s wife suggested that we could hire a bigger car without realising that the boot may not be bigger.
My cousin suggested folding the rear seats down to create more space. Some of my friends suggested installing roof racks. But my brother argued it may increase fuel consumption which is quite expensive nowadays. My cousin suggested adding a small trailer to the back of the car. He said that you can get a padlock for them and added that we would have a lot more car space. He said they were very easy to attach.
Finally my brother who is a skilled surgeon showed me that it is not geometry or mathematics rather it is a skillful art. So finally he packed the car up and we had plenty of space inside. Not everyone can afford to buy spacious cars or jeeps so they need to learn the art of packing their car boot. People can go for alternatives like car trailers or roof boxes. We need to plan for trips well in advance. We need to decide whether to bring a picnic with us or stop somewhere for something to eat. Therefore with careful planning we can create more car boot space.
